Are there really tools that you can use to repair bad credit? If you are a student, how can you handle your student credit card without falling in the debt trap? If you have a college credit card, consider the following advice:

  • Plan your monthly expenses. Monitor your monthly expenses to avoid  overspending.   Create a monthly budget – school supplies, utility bills and personal expenses.  Are there items on your list that are not that important? How many times did you buy something out of impulse? Do you think you can improve your spending habits? By creating a written budget plan, you can avoid the risk of building a lot of debt
  • Check your student credit card use.  Get into the habit of only using your credit for emergencies. Remember that having a credit card in college doesn’t mean you should be too relaxed on your spending. Instead, it should teach you how to manage your finances properly.
  • Pay off your student credit card balance completely. The best way to avoid credit card debt is to pay off your monthly balances in full. Instead of carrying over your balances or submitting only the minimum payment, you can save a great deal on additional interest costs or late fees by paying completely paying off your balances.
  • Check your account regularly. Many college credit cards in the market offer an online account access for all their cardholders. Take advantage of this great feature and regularly monitor your credit card spending. Checking your account also enables you to see if there are any inaccurate charges in your bill.
